The back story

About North and West Bali: Munduk, Lovina and the national park

The north of the island faces the Bali Sea, a long way from the southern resorts: the clove and coffee hills of Munduk, the waterfalls of Sekumpul and Gitgit, the calm, black-sand coast of Lovina, and in the far west, the forests and mangroves of West Bali National Park, with the coral walls of Menjangan Island offshore.

Getting there

By car and driver over the mountains from the south, three hours or more.

The hills and waterfalls

Munduk and the waterfalls of Sekumpul and Gitgit.

Too far for a day from the south: stay a night or two.

The coast and the park

Lovina’s black-sand beaches, West Bali National Park and the reefs of Menjangan Island.

Our advice: dive or snorkel Menjangan with an operator licensed for the national park.
